THE TELEGRAM OF THE CHARGÊ D'AFFAIRES AD INTERIM IN AFFAIRS OF THE USSR IN FINLAND M. G. YUDANOVA IN THE PEOPLE'S COMMISSARIAT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE USSR
On November 4, 1939.
The government tries to use the leading article of "Pravda" as justification for military measures. For today three versions of Erkko's speech of November 1 are known. Most aggressive of them — Erkko's radio speech, a little softened — is put in newspapers, and a tidy combed version, with withdrawal of expressions ”Russian imperialism” and other hostile expressions — in the French text dispatched to missions. Erkko's last speech, most of all, betray him as the agent of England, aspiring to carry out the order of his masters. The English envoy since the beginning of negotiations suggests to reject requirements of the USSR and calls on to begin war with us. During the last days English newspapers openly write about it. Some details on the mentioned questions are in the TASS telegram.
